Sticking Out In The Crowd

As someone for whom ordinary shopping is a high stress activity and regards a visit to the town centre as no way to spend time, this article from China Daily, hat tip Schneier on Security, is bad news.

Never mind being fair skinned and getting red faced and hot when the sun is out.

Scientists in China claim to have found a way to detect terrorists in crowds who may be about to strike by the use of mini cameras and high tech analysis.

Quote:

Officers looking through the device at a crowd would see a mental "stress bar" above each person's head, and the suspects highlighted with a red face.

The researchers said they were able to use the technology to tell the difference between high-blood oxygen levels produced by stress rather than just physical exertion.

Unquote.

Schneier says "I'm not optimistic about this technology."
